822 PLATE 1a EB USED ON COVER DATED 7th MAY 1840 - THE SECOND DAY OF OFFICIAL USE: Plate 1a EB used on EL from The London Assurance Loan Company, Hatton Court to Charing Cross dated 7th May 1840 the second day of official useage. Three wide to large margins, cut into at lower left, the "E" square is a little rubbed. Two filing creases, one crosses the adhesive and one crosses the clearly struck d.s. on reverse. The adhesive is well tied by a crisp red MC with "T.P./Cornhill" struck (inverted) in the same colour nearby. This cover is listed in the Jackson census as being lot 530 in the Stanley Gibbons sale of 28 June 1974 realising £100.
