1344 "VIA FRANCE" MAIL RE-ROUTED VIA PORTUGAL DUE TO UNREST DURING NAPOLEON's "100 DAYS"; Fine 3 Apr. 1815 EL from "Gibraltar" to London (8 May 1815 arrival backstamp) endorsed "Via France" but sent after the whole of France was thrown into chaos by the return of Napoleon from Elba on (1 March 1815) and so having a very fine red "S. ROQUE/ANDALUCIA/BAXA" mark and a v. fine black "LISBON" on the front. Intriguing contents ref. fall in price of pepper due to news of Peace between Britain and the U.S.!
