NAPOLEONIC WARS - 'MACKINNON' COVER EX PENINSULAR CAMPAIGN WITH FINE "LISBON/F" D.S.; 29 Dec. 1809 - 1 Jan. 1810 EL (two folds reinforced inside; slight singe-marks due to disinfection) from "Condeixa" to Bath (ex Col. H. Mackinnon) with a very fine blue-green "LISBON/JA 13/1810/F" Falmouth mark (distinctive ink of the early usage, and only one day beside month) nicely placed on the front. Good contents about the progress of the Army; "I like General Crawford very much...I was given to understand that he was a perfect Tyger...Tomorrow I go towards Viseu...the Head Quarters are to be at that place and we are to go 14 leagues further on, but I find most of the Army go towards us..." Attractive letter from this well known family correspondence. PHOTO
