A REMARKABLE REDIRECTED COVER CHARGED POSTAGE DUE ON ARRIVAL: 1925 (July) env (damaged) with framed "Posted on board ship abroad/I.S." h.s. addressed to Bassentwaite, UK & then re-addressed locally, bearing Christmas Island local 5 (cents) adhesive tied by the large ""CENTRAL PACIFIC COCOANUT PLANTATIONS LTD/CHRISTMAS ISD" cachet with small "CHRISTMAS-ISLAND/LOCAL POSTAGE" c.d.s. alongside. Also has G.B. 11⁄2d cancelled on arrival in UK with "LONDON" c.d.s. The cover was charged postage due and bears GB 1⁄2d & 11⁄2d postage dues tied by "COCKERMOUTH/CUMBERLAND" c.d.s. with "2/I.S./E" h.s. nearby. The cover bears an "OFFICIALLY/SEALED". label which was damaged prior to it being placed on the env. Despite the faults an exceptional cover. PHOTO |
