(very early date for this), 1876 EL from Paris via Southampton to Chile bearing three 40c adhesives with mainly very fine oval framed "VALPARAISO/10c/" underpaid mark in black, rare August 1941 parcel card from Auschwitz Concentration Camp to Krakow, "CURACAO/OVER/SOUTHAMPTON" & "SURINAME/OVER/ SOUTHAMPTON" marks on incoming or transit postal stationery postcards (illustrated on colour plate VI of Bryan Hunt's "The Post in Southampton") along with examples on loose stamps and much more of interest mainly with Southampton connections. 861 ICELAND - U.K. VIA Dr LIGHT'S NORTHERN FLIGHT: Very scarce commercial postcard addressed to the UK and franked with the 1934 20a & 1kr air stamps cancelled at Reykjavik with fine green 'By Air Mail/Reykjavik - Edinburgh/Carried by Dr. R|. Light'; this is one of 188 items flown on this leg of Light's flight from New Haven to Edinburgh by the Northern route - and is especially scarce as a totally non-philatelic use: the writer makes it clear that she is taking advantage of the opportunity to write to her family: An airman (American I think) is leaving Rvik tonight & will take letters, hence the PC. The letter has been 'turned' and re-used by Mrs Steer concerning publication details, referring to the new 'Poor Law Report' etc. - and must have been enclosed in a separate wrapper. £100

Also five 1902/5 PPCs (2 with faults) addressed to England franked with single India 1a or 3pi x 4 adhesives all tied by mostly very fine Type 8 "SEA POST OFFICE" c.d.s.'s alone with codes "A" (2) or "B" (3), two of them written from Aden, one ex Bombay and two in transit, from S.S.
