| 694 | A RARE COVER TO A CANADIAN CREW MEMBER OF 617 "DAMBUSTERS" SQUADRON: 1943 (17 Mar) env from Toronto to "Sergt Observer McLean D.A./R 112723/Royal Canadian Air Force/Overseas" with "Overseas" crossed out and "617 SQD" inserted. On reverse are large violet "CANADIAN BASE OFFICE OVERSEAS NO. 1/R.C.A.F./SECTION/DIRECTORY/SERVICE/C.P.C. d.s. and "CANADIAN BASE POST OFFICE OVERSEAS ????/Entered/C.P.C." . The adhesive is missing. The only example of mail addressed to a crew member of 617 squadron recorded by John. Sgt. McClean was a member of the crew of Lancaster ED923/T which on the night of 16/17 May 1943 dropped a mine which mad contact with the Sorpe dam.
