Faith who writes 'This will inform you of my having arrived.....we was (sic) borded (sic) by three ships of war who wanted to press our sailors.....sent the doctor to look at them which he did and told me they were not fit to go among fit people. 1044 FALMOUTH - EARLY "SHIP-LRE" MARK ON COFFEE HOUSE COVER EX JAMAICA VIA AGENT; Attractive 19 Aug. 1777 EL from "Montego Bay, Jamaica" to London "at the Jamaica Coffee House" endorsed by a Falmouth Forwarding Agent ("Joseph Banfield, Falmo.") on the lower flap, charged "1N1" with a nearly very fine large "FALMOUTH/SHIP-LRE" mark (Rob.S1) nicely placed on the front. 1112 THE RARE "NUNEATON UNION" ENVELOPE USED FROM NUNEATON; 7 Oct. 1841 usage of this attractive blue letter-sheet (few known) from "Josh. Scrivener" (filing note; presumably the same man as the "J.S." at top left within the printed design) to "Stoke near Coventry" (same address as the example illustrated in Bodily, Jarvis & Hahn, with very faint boxed "No.1" Receiving House mark (of Nuneaton) on the front and poor red Coventry c.d.s. on the flap. The letter-sheet bears a 1d Black (with red M.C.; out of period!) that is not tied and does not belong, but which looks pretty enough. Of the five or six examples of this letter-sheet that we have seen over the years, all but one appears to have had its stamp replaced like this example. Attractive and rare in any condition.
