862 DUMBARTONSHIRE: 1856 (31 May) env. addressed to Ilkley, Yorkshire franked with 1d red 'stars' adhesive tied by an extremely rare boxed type VIII "KILCREGGAN" (Alcock maximum rarity G - few known on or off cover), 1858 (28 Jan.) slightly stained env. to Clackmannan with a very similar adhesive tied by fine & 85% complete rare boxed type VIII "OLD KILPATRICK" cancellation in blue (Alcock rarity F in this colour - few known on cover) and further 1d red 'stars' 1859 env. ex same correspondence tied by a partly fine strike of the same mark but in black (rarity C in this colour). 863 GLASGOW - DUKE STREET, SANDYFORD & SOCHIHALL: c.1857 1d red OH on piece tied by almost complete strike of the Glasgow "DUKE STREET" local cancellation, 1/- green with left wing margin bearing a part impression of the same cancellation, 1857 large garter wmk. 4d rose divided pair with central boxed complete "SANDYFORD" cancellation and 1856 6d lilac with right wing margin bearing partial strike of the "[SOC]HIHALL" boxed cancellation. 864 INNER HEBRIDES, KILNINVER & UNION STREET: Interesting group comprising 1858 (4 March) env. to Glasgow franked with 1d red 'stars' adhesive tied by large part twin-lined large "TYREE TYREE" cancellation, an even better example (albeit on piece) of the same mark, three pieces all with 1d red 'stars' tied by mostly fine boxed "BOWMORE VILLIGE" scarce error of spelling marks in black or blue-black, 1859 (1 Dec.) env. franked identically with adhesive tied by rare twin-lined "KILNINVER" (Argyll) cancellation, loose 1d red 'stars' adhesive bearing a 60% complete strike of the even rarer type VIII boxed "KILNIN[VER]" mark, 1859 (4 April) env. franked similarly with a very fine small twin-lined "UNION STREET" cancellation (under Aberdeen) and c.1858/9 pieces bearing 2d blue plate 7 or 1d 'stars' tied by further strikes of same.
