Indeed, Mauritius fell into British hands in Dec. 1810, so it seems certain that this letter did go on the same ship that took the news back to England. Rare thus. | ** | 601 | VERY RARE EARLY "NELSON" STRAIGHT LINE MARK ON COVER TO ENGLAND: [Dec., 1842] E (minor wear on folds and unnecessarily reinforced with 'magic' tape which ought to be removed by the new owner) addressed to Yorkshire endorsed in m/s '1/-' (double N.Z. outgoing Ship Letter rate to G.B.) and 'Paid' on the front having an inverted but very fine small black "NELSON" mark (light fold) and G.B. m/s '1/4' (double incoming charge) both on the front with partly fine red London "SHIP LETTER" and 2 July, 1843 arrival marks on the back.
