1039 EARLY LINE-ENGRAVED COVERS: 1840 (15 Oct.) EL (faults) used within London franked with a 1d black plate 5 FH tied by an experimental black MC plus a spectacular looking 1840 (May) EL to Norwich dated within "Hingham 22nd May 1840", handstamped "Hingham/Penny Post" and "ATTLEBOROUGH" UDC but with 2d blue adhesive which was not the original franking added at top right hand corner. BPA Cert. (2005) condemns the cover as a "fake". However the adhesive is a fine four margined example with central red MC cancellation. (2 covers). £75
