Timeraire" charged "3" with fair "PORTS/MOUTH" (crease) on the flap (just prior to issue of GB Ship Letter marks) with good contents ref. the writer's recent release as POW in French hands: "I only arrived here this morning from a French prison, being taken on my passage to this island and carried to Hispaniola [Haiti]. We had a Bloody Engagement with Four Privateers, which we Fought two hours, but at last was boarded by the Enemy and Taken. We was most Cruelly used, and Strip't almost Naked..."; plus 1815 EL (amusing contents from a recent immigrant from GB) to Scotland with faint "JAMAICA" fleuron c.d.s.
