1113 RARE OUTGOING COVER FROM LONDON DURING THE VERY FIRST MONTH OF USE OF THE BISHOP MARK; 27 Apr. 1661 EL (small stain on reverse) from "London" to "Norwich" charged "2" with no Bishop Mark, because prior to 1663 the Bishop Mark was only used on letters addressed to London; see explanation in Cavendish's 'Barrie Jay' catalogue, June 2000. [With small "27/4" manuscript date written by the addressee on the flap.] The Bishop Mark was first used on 19 Apr. 1661, just 8 days before this letter was posted.
