Very rare Poonch Combination Registered Cover. The letter is addressed to Pemberton, Wilson & Co. (the early stamp dealers) which lends cedence to the idea that it was sent by the Poonch Postmaster enclosing Poonch mint stamps. 1271 RARE "MISSENT TO/YOKOHAMA. JAPAN" MARK ON SWISS COVER SENT TO EGYPT; Spectacular 7 Dec. 1883 usage of the Swiss 25c green Postal Stationery env. (repair at left clear of stamps & marks) cancelled with a v. fine 2-ring "CELERINA" c.d.s. on the front (the imprinted stamp left clear) and clearly addressed to "Alexandrie, Egypte, Via Brindisi"; but amazingly sent to the Far East in error, and so having a lovely strike of the rare "MISSENT TO/YOKOHAMA. JAPAN" mark on the front, matching the v. fine "YOKOHAMA *" c.d.s. nearby. The backstamps suggest that the letter was wrongly routed at Naples; it went through "HONG-KONG" (4 Feb. 1884) en route and returned to Alexandria on 4 Mar. 1884! In the meantime the disinfection of mail due to the cholera epidemic in Egypt had just ceased, so this cover would have been disinfected if it had not been Missent to Japan! 1298 VERY RARE EARLY 1st-TYPE "LAND-MAIL" LABEL ON INGOING COVER FROM AMSTERDAM TO BATAVIA VIA BOMBAY & SINGAPORE; Fine and attractive 2 Jan. 1845 EL from "Amsterdam" to "Batavia via Marseilles", with a v. fine blue "AMSTERDAM" c.d.s. on the front with matching "P.P." and faint red "PAYS-BAS/VALNES." c.d.s., as well as a mostly very fine "BOMBAY/FE13 1843/STR…POSTAGE [8]/INLD[Ship] DO [2]" mark. Also on the front is a very fine large 1st-Type "Aangebragt per Land-Mail./Te betalen port f [2 16] koper./BATAVIA, [21/4 - 1845]" label (with raised "t" in "Aangebragt" variety). These rare "Land Mail" labels with the currency in 'koper' were only used for such ingoing mail to/through Batavia from Mar. 1845 to Aug. 1846 via Singapore; less than a dozen examples routed via Bombay are recorded, and this is one of the very finest known. They showed the total postage charge due including the 50k due for the final carriage from Singapore to Batavia. Important Exhibition Item and a Rare Early Postage Due Label. [Ex J.
