Hong Kong 1c green postcard to "German imperial Legation, Peking" with m/s "2" and franked with a damaged Dowager 2c green tied by a Peking chop, blue "CUSTOMS/PEKING" (another strike on reverse) and red "CUSTOMS/TIENTSIN" c.d.s on front. Note: Recipients of mail living in Peking who did not have a postal agent in Tientsin had to have the mail forwarded through the Customs P.O. The cost of this service was the normal inland rate of postage for the item concerned. The adhesive cancelled in Peking would seem to indicate that the postage due was paid after it's onward transmission between Tientsin and Peking on arrival at the Customs Peking office. PHOTO £3000
