SENT AND RECEIVED ONLY ONE DAY APART BY DIFFERENT SHIPS: 1837 (24/25 Oct.) pair of EL's (some edge-wear but with original copy letters from the sender, the Colonial Treasurer for NSW, complaining about his low salary) sent to the same Edinburgh solicitor; one endorsed "Col. Treasury" on the front. They were clearly sent via different ships although they both have (near fine & very fine) strikes of the scarce black crowned oval "GENERAL POST OFFICE/-/SYDNEY" d.s. on the reverse; one with fine red boxed "INDIA LETTER/DOVER" across the join on the reverse and the other with v.fine black boxed "INDIA LETTER/PORTSMOUTH" on the front. They reached Edinburgh on 15th & 16th June 1838 respectively. Remarkable matched pair. £100
