Small faults but an interesting combination. Note: The British Consular P.O. in Buenos Aires closed in 1873, Argentina did not join the UPU until May 1878. Therefore Argentine stamps were only valid for local postal rates. The British Consulate continued to supply GB stamps but was not authorised to cancel them, this was done on arrival. (with year-date "99" added in manuscript!), with message from the "Master of the Horse" to "H.R.H. Princess Louise, Kensington Palace" with a brief message; "Empress crosses [from Osborne] today; [arrives] Victoria [Station] 10.30. Carrington." 1697 KING EDWARD VII AS PRINCE OF WALES - RAILWAY LETTER STAMP COVER ADDRESSED & INITIALLED "AE" BY HIM; Remarkable 14th Oct. 1896 env. (small tears along top and some minor soiling; first line of address - "Sir FRANCIS KNOLLYS, K.C.M.G., C.B." - printed) to London, franked by QV ‡d vermilion pair and "GREAT EASTERN RAILWAY" 2d green letter-stamp, all cancelled (and just tied by indentation of) small "LONDON E.C." squared circles; the railway letter-stamp is also tied by Newmarket railway station's manuscript "X". The last two lines of the address are in the hand of the future KEVII and he has initialled the envelope "AE" (Albert Edward) at lower left of address. Rare thus; the first Royal Household usage of the Railway letter Stamp service that we can recall having seen. Exhibition item. 1698 "(Crown)/ER/VII" ROYAL CYPHER COVERS INCL. ONE IN RARE BLACK INK; 1901-6 stampless covers posted internally in England with red "OFFICIAL PAID" c.d.s.'s of London S.W. (2; ex Marlborough House & Buckingham Palace), Sandringham (2) and King's Lynn; all with mostly very fine KEVII cypher cachets in purple, except for the 1903 example from Buckingham Palace which is most unusually struck in black. 1699 THE EXTREMELY RARE "E.R" HOODED CIRCLE CANCELLATION ON 1d LILAC COVER; Attractive 18th Dec. 1901 env. ("York House, St. James's Palace" flap) to South Norwood franked by a QV 1d lilac (corner fault) tied by a superb strike of the very rare "LONDON/A/18 DE 01/E.R" Hooded Circle datstamp of which only three examples (two dated in 1908) are recorded. It was issued for use on "H.M. the King's Correspondence, special box" in July 1901. Complete with the original enclosure; a partly printed letter (acknowleding the gift of a song) from the Prince of Wales's secretary. This is a highly important British Royal Houehold Mail Exhibition Centre-piece, being the only known QV franking, and much the eraliest recorded cover, with this exceptional cancellation. The only other cover with this cancellation that we have recorded was sold by Cavendish from their May 1990 Private Treaty List for £1,250. PHOTO - £1500

1702 THE RARE ROYAL VISIT TO DERBYSHIRE "CHATSWORTH" SKELETON CANCELLATION ON POSTCARD; 8th Jan. 1904 fine PPC (of Chatsworth House) to London and franked by a KEVII ‡d blue-green tied by a fine 2-ring "BAKEWELL" c.d.s. with a very fine strikes in blue of the rare large "CHATSWORTH/X" c.d.s. of the same date both back and front. From the "Barlerin" (Royal Chef) correspondence. This c.d.s. is the only Chatsworth P.O. mark ever used; it has only been recorded for two days (4th & 8th Jan. 1904; during the visit of KEVII to Chatsworth) and was intended for telegraphic purposes. 1709 THE 1911 CORONATION - THE VERY RARE 2-RING "WESTMINSTER ABBEY" C.D.S., TICKETS, ETC.; Small 22nd June 1911 piece with the 3d brown embossed stamp of a regd. envelope cancelled by an 80% very fine strike of the very rare "WESTMINSTER ABBEY" c.d.s. (code "A") of which only a handful of pieces and a telegram form are recorded apart from one defaced cover (it was only in use for 3 hours!). Plus a fascinating group of other items relating to KGV's Coronation; two different card admission tickets, House of Commons ticket, Police "CARRIAGE REGULATIONS" (issued in the name of "WINSTON CHURCHILL"), 2 St. Martin's Church tickets, 27th June Buck. 1710 WALES - MACHYNLLETH USAGE OF THE VERY RARE COURT TELEGRAPHIST's "KING'S SPECIAL WIRE/Crown)" C.D.S. ON POSTCARD; Fine 15th July 1911 PPC (multi-views of the town and the Royal Family; entitled "ROYALTY AT MACHYNLLETH") to Worksop franked by a KGV ‡d tied by a very fine strike of the rare "KING'S SPECIAL WIRE/(Crown)" c.d.s. (Morgan Fig.2.3; this is the item he ilustrates in "Royal Household Mail", p.20) with date error "[19]10" for "[19]11". The message is signed "B" - presumably a member of the Royal household. The King and his family visited Wales shortly after their Coronation, but no other Royal items associated with this visit have been recorded. Exhibition item. PHOTO - £200
