1114 BRAILSFORD: 1848 envelope to "Brailsford Rectory, near Derby" twice used; firstly with faint grey Ashbourne skeleton of 7 June and with Derby b.s. of the same date in blue, then with a further much clearer Ashbourne skeleton (in blue) of 29 August and Derby c.d.s. (on reverse) of the same date. Two blue Brailsford UDC's on reverse (one faint, the other very clear) and 1d red plate 75, FL applied for the second use. Unusual. £80

1116 MALDON: Attractive May, 1865 10d rate mourning env. addressed to Hobart Town, Tasmania franked with 6d lilac (cut wing margin plate 5) & 4d vemilion (small letters) tied by "MALDON" duplexes and by mostly very fine "MISSENT/TO ADELAIDE S.A." mark and also having boxed red "SHIP LETTER INWARDS FREE" marks of Hobart & Launceston back and front. 1117 VERY EARLY BRISTOL FORWARDING AGENT COVER WITH SQUAT "B/RIS/TOL" MARK: 1772 (July) E (some weak folds) to the "Society for the Propogation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts" in London (probably from their missionaries in New England), charged only the inland rate of "4" but having a fine m/s endorsement - "Received & Forwarded by Y.H.M.S. Cruger & Mallard, Bristol July 15 1772" on the reverse beside a mostly fine "B/RIS/TOL" mark (across the join). Rare thus. Ex Warn. £150
1118 1855 (7 Dec.) env. registered from Bristol to London franked with a good Embossed 6d plus LC 14 1d (corner fault) tied by sideways duplex. The env. is creased through the stamps & a little torn. Also 1840 (Nov.) EL from S.Petherton (Som.) to London bearing 1d plate 7 with fine MC cancellation, tiny scissor cut into "L" square & some cover faults. (2 items). £75
1119 1863 (Sept./Oct.) stampless EL from "BLACK RIVER/JAMAICA" (fine c.d.s. on top flap) to Tockington endorsed in Jamaica above the address "In the unpd Box" having a v. fine rare black handstruck "2/" postage due charge mark (of Southampton?) on the front alongside a faint small Bristol encircled "CH" mark.
