Complete with the original contents (full typed transcript); a letter on Expedition notepaper (same blue vignette as the env.) headed "Winter Quarters, Feb. 11th 1903", and written and signed by Scott himself. He writes to thank "Mrs. Wilson Noble, Tangley Park, Guildford, England" for the gifts that he had received that day per the relief ship "Morning"; namely some Balaclavas "and one of the small caps I am wearing at this moment ", and some "Grand Marnier". He notes that "The season is disappointing us, the ice refuses to break away as it did last year and I have to make preparation for another winter, arrange stores with the relief ship and prepare many despatches in order to get her away before there is any chance of her being frozen in ". Signed "R.F. Scott", and in superb condition. Very rare complete Scott letter from the middle of this major Expedition in the Antarctic.
