757 1919 RAILWAY STRIKE - VERY RARE BRISTOL ACCEPTANCE AT 2s-1‡d RATE; Fine 3rd Oct. 1919 env. (minor creases) to London endorsed "By aeroplane post" franked by KGV 1/- (2) & 1‡d tied by Bristol plain & regd. datestamps, having a 4th Oct. 1919 London arrival c.d.s. on the back. Much rarer than the Scottish acceptances during the Railway Strike; the Bristol route is the rarest of all the 1919 air routes. Only 75 covers were carried during the 6 days (one flight per day) that this emergency measure (and rate) lasted - only 21 letters and this cover were carried on 4th Feb 1919 - few have survived. 774 "J.B. WILLCOCKS/AGENT FOR GOVERNMENT/EMIGRATION/PLYMOUTH" F.A.C. ON COVER FROM WALES TO AUSTRALIA; Oct. 1850 env. (with original contents) from "Taibach, Glam." to Adelaide (S. Australia) with no G.B. postal marks, having only two fine to very fine strikes of this distinctive and short-lived Plymouth F.A.C on the front, with blue Adelaide arrival c.d.s. and m/s "6" (Ship Letter arrival charge). Good contents with proposals for the addressee to seek the contract for providing iron rails for the new Port Adelaide railway, and turning down an invitation "to join the Emperor of Russia's yacht"! 799 VERY RARE HANDSTRUCK ENCIRCLED "I": 21 Dec., 1686 EL from Worplesdon, Surrey to London endorsed by sender "wth all Speed" bearing on the reverse a very fine strike (the best of the four known?) of the handstruck "I" in circle which was probably applied in Guildford and an equally fine "DE/22" arrival Bishop mark alongside. One of the rarest & earliest provincial English P.O. marks (not to be confused with London's similar encircled Receiving House marks which were struck only on letters sent FROM London).
