340 1869-92 Pair of covers to England, the former inscribed "Overland via Bombay and Southampton" franked by 2a & 4a adhesives cancelled with "B/156" numeral in octagon of Rangoon (and with additional m/s cancels). The cover was backstamped with "CALCUTTA INDIA PAID" c.d.s. which was subsequently crossed out, whilst the front was marked in m/s "Exceeds ‡ oz" & a boxed "Deficiency (9d)/Fine (9d)" blue h.s. was applied. An oval framed "MORE TO PAY" was added along with m/s "1/6d" final charge (small corner fault but a scarce item). The 1892 cover is a Soldier's letter to England franked with India 9p adhesive canceleld by a superb "THAYETMYO" squared circle, countersigned by the Commanding Officer as per regulations.
