72 CRASH & WREK MAIL - "Saved from the wreck of the WAIRARAPA" COVER EX SOUTH AUSTRALIA; Attractive Oct. 1894 env. (stamp washed off but with fine coloured Adelaide advert device at top left) to New Zealand with part Adelaide duplex and very fine blue "Saved from the wreck of the/'WAIRARAPA'" mark nicely placed on the front. 73 DISINFECTED MAIL - FRENCH VICE-CONSUL IN SAVANNA (Ga), 1826: Fine, lengthy letter addressed to the Public Health Superintendants at Marseille concerning the health of the State of Georgia ('les fievres d'automne ordinaires a ce climat'), with official seal; put into the postal system in Marseille, it was slit for disinfection, struck with a '12/MARSEILLE' h.s. and charged 1 dÈcime for local delivery. An unusual official disinfection item from the USA. £80
