1468 FREE MAIL: 1810 printed env. ex Greenwich Hospital inscribed "Pursuant to the Act of Parliament Forty-fifth George the Third" addressed to Gibraltar with red crowned "FREE" mark, authorised by Admiral Sir John Colpoys and with no charge marks in evidence. Scarce destination. £150
1469 FREE MAIL: 1815 EL ex India to GB (addressed to Francis Freeling) and so not charged postage despite the step-type "DEAL/SHIP LETTER" mark on the front. Contents include "Pray forgive the liberty I take in putting the inclosed (sic) under your cover, with the view of securing their conveyance, rather than the saving of the postage to the parties which is really no object to either."
