I am of the opinion that there will only be about 15 letters ever to have this cancellation mark as it will be cancelled from records this Summer and the cancellation marker not further used". (Canadian ship d'Iberville was unable to land at Cape Herschel on 15 Aug. 1953 and supplies/P.O. equipment were diverted to set up a post at Alexandra Fiord and the new canceller reading "Alexandra Fiord" was part of the December 1954 airdrop.) 1235 BALLON MONTŠ - 'L'ArmÈe de la Loire': Neat EL addressed to Chamon (Loiret), endorsed 'Par Ballon montÈ', franked by 20c CÈrËs cancelled by star '10' with Rue du Cherche-Midi c.d.s. (6e/29 Dec 70) alongside; backstamped with c.d.s. arrivals of Chateauneuf-s-Loire & Sully (11 Jan). The correspondant, writing to her parents, was particularly homesick and mentions the intense cold of the Parisian Winter. Transcript. One or two light foxing spots do not detract from an attractive cover. £100

EL written by a concerned wife to her husband in Paris, franked by 20c stamp cancelled with GC3144 of Riom with c.d.s.
