529 July, 1898 40c orange-brown with "Morocco/Agencies" optd. in blue in a complete mint sheet of 120 (two panes of 60 separated by interpanneau margin) from Plate 2. The sheet was obviously under-inked when optd. with the result that the word "Morocco" is totally omitted from the first stamp, only a faint "cco" appears on the second stamp, a slightly heavier "rocco" is present on the sixth stamp and both "Morocco" & "Agencies" are impressed but only lightly on the third, fourth and fifth stamps. Knowledgeable vendor states that as few as 100 sheets received the blue (as opposed to the normal black) opt. and that only three stamps are known with "Morocco" omitted. The basic stamp is SG.5c. and as such the sheet is catalogued @ £4,560 without this uncatalogued major variety. PHOTO - see plate no. £2600
