(pencil date; part of the front torn away, presumably with the red Hong Kong "Arms" mark - see the covers sold in Cavendish's Dec. 2000 sale, from which this is s stray that the vendor found subsequently in other Bruce papers) to Miss Bruce in Coleraine, endorsed "Overland" and numbered "29" when recieved on "28th Oct. [1843]"; the postal charge appears to have been "1/10" (part torn away). There is s fine red oval "INDIA" on the front and a complete strike of the rare Tombstone Postage Due mark on the back; this is probably yhe envelope of one of the letters sold in Lot 3739 in Cavendish's 2nd Dec. 2000 auction. [The similar complete covers with this Tombstone mark sold for anything from £1,150 to £4,600 in that auction.] Plus a 1st July [1843] hand-written dinner invitation from "Lord Saltoun" which was sent to Captain Bruce on H.M.S.
