1391 1912 (11 June) env. roughly opened at left used from Senneh to Roumania franked with 1912 Mohammed Ali Shah 13ch tied by "SENNEH" c.d.s with "HAMADAN (ARRIVEE)" and similar "DEPART" c.d.s. nearby. The cover has a m/s endorsement in Arabic which reads "Sennandag P.O. Burjano. In accordance with telegram No 6277 from The Director of Posts dated 1st Sour, this cover, the stamp of which is surcharged MUHAMMAD ALI SHAH is not accepted. Return it to the first postage place P.O. of HAMADAN. Dated 2nd Sour 1330". The endorsement seems to indicate that although mails were exchanged between the Rebels the former did not deliver them and that the Director did not continance it. It should be noted taht the overprint appears to have been applied after the adhesive was affixed. £100

1395 1917 env. from Kazeroun franked on the reverse with a strip of three 1911-13 2ch overprinted in Arabic "Millat-I-Kazerun". Two violet arabic censor h.s. on the address panel. These adhesives were overprinted by the Mayor of Kazeroun after the British Force from Chiraz had unsuccessfully tried to force it's way over the pass of Pir-I-Zan into the valley where the town lies. There use was restricted to a very few days. £100
1396 1917 (11 March) env. registered from Hamadan to Najaf, Iraq franked with 24ch tied by a fine "HAMADAN(DEPART" bi-lingual c.d.s with boxed "A.R./No" and intaglio seals in blue alongside, affixed on reverse is a plain label with m/s "Captured along with/Advice note in Bagdad Post Office/ March 11th 1917/ om entry of/British forces/EB/Army Signal Co./I.E.F." The advice of reciept (small faults) is included in the lot and is franked with 2ch & 10ch. Hamadan had been captured prior to the arrival of British troops in Bagdad. A good story.
