The addressee was not found at various locations to which the cover was redirected in India (viz boxed violet "NOT AT ADDRESS STATED/PRESENT ADDRESS NOT KNOWN RETURN TO SENDER" & "NO TRACE/W.A. Wing/2nd ECHELON G.H.Q. INDIA") and was subsequently redirected to Taplow (Bucks.), thence to Rhyl and finally back to Maidenhead. Various m/s markings,"OFFICIALLY SEALED IN THE/ARMY POST OFFICE" censor tape tied by violet circular Army P.O. cachet & "No. 10 ADVANCE BASE POST OFFICE" d.s. on reverse. By the time the cover returned to Maidenhead the war in Europe was over and the meter mark incorporating the Victory Bells has been struck on the reverse. An immensely characterful cover. | £50 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
