Uniform 4d Post Period cover (19 Dec. 1839) to Le Havre showing the OUTRE-MER/ST.MALO c.d.s. with inverted date-slug, 1852 E carried by the South-Western Packet Co. to St Malo with fine blue Jersey c.d.s. & ILES-C/ST.MALO entry and an 1853 EL to Avranches with the same entry mark showing only a '17' (remainder of date slug missing!). ** 709 BALLON MONTÉ: 1870 (12 Nov.) Three page letter addressed to St Helier in which the writer mentions the progress of the Siege and the fact that she hands her letters to Nadar in person to ensure safe transit; franked at 30c & flown on the 'Général Uhrich', reaching Jersey on 21 November (receiving mark). 719 ABERDOUR - THE EARLIEST RECORDED HANDSTAMP: 1757 (12 Aug.) EL probably carried privatley from Breda and landed at Aberdour (a newly opened PO) addressed to Lude by Dunkeld with a curved "ARBERDOUR" h.s. and m/s "2" and "3". The EL has been repaired and is soiled. £80
720 ARISAIG - THE RARE LOCAL AND FORT WILLIAM NUMERAL USED TOGETHER: 1858 (4 Feb.) env. to Aberdeen franked with LC14 1d tied by the "ARISAIG" Scottish local plus the "143" of Fort William. Scarce but the env. is a little soiled. PHOTO - see plate no. £240
