1117 EARLY LETTERS - "DOVE SARA" COVER, FORERUNNER OF REGISTERED MAIL; 15th Jan. 1591 EL (fine large triangular wafer-seal) from "Civita Ducale" addressed to the "Duca Alessandria de Parma et Piancenza", and clearly sent by special messenger who had to find the man himself because of the unusual endorsement "Dove sara" [= wherever he may be] on the front. 1121 JEWISH REFUGEE EPHEMERA: 1933-48 Diverse collection of material incl. passport of a Dresden lady who emigrated to Jaffa in 1933, letter dated 1938 from an Austrian Jew requesting a job in British India, printed form for declaration of property value and 2 documents concerning the enforced closure of a shop in Breslau and payment of 30% of its value in "tax" before the family was allowed to emigrate, 1945 Belgian p.s. card giving a summary of family news to a Dr. Fuss in New York and Jewish Refugee Committee letters. 1122 MARITIME: Old-time collection in Swing-O-Ring album, majority of British interest with Paquebot marks from many of our ports on covers franked with a variety of adhesives including Iceland, Belgium, Spain, Norway, South Australia & India. We note German Seepost marks including on a 1935 cover from Gambia to Scotland with postage due applied on arrival, French & Belgian marks on adhesives and covers, "H & K Pact" marks on 6 items, etc. A few very nice PPC's are included, notably a silk card of the "RMS Oceanic" used in 1906. 1124 MILITARY - SEVEN YEARS WAR COVER ADDRESSED TO THE FRENCH RESERVE ARMY NEAR ALSACE; 24th May 1760 EL (no postal marks; with clear gossipy contents mentioning a visit to see the King at Versailles, etc.) addressed to "M. le marquis de Noyes, Lieutenant d'Armées du Roy, inspecteur de la Reserve du bas Rhin", who was presumably on manoeuvres along the German border during the build-up for invasion.
