591 CANADA - THE UNIQUE () USAGE OF THE G.B. 1d RED "STARS" ACCEPTED ON INTERNAL CANADIAN COVER ; Extraordinary 3rd April 1856 EL (from one solicitor to another regarding the prevention of one "John M. Grover" from moving to the States without paying a debt) from "Montreal", addressed to "Cobourg, C[anada]. W[est].", franked by a G.B. 1d Red perf. "stars" (lettered MC; filing crease), tied by the concentric rings "target" cancel which matches the near fine 4th April "MONTREAL/L.C." c.d.s. on the front. There is a fair "COBOURG/U.C." arrival c.d.s. of 8th April on the top flap, but no sign of anyone raising a Postage Due charge or even noticing that this was not a Canadian imperf. 3d Beaver!!
