816 1814 Copy letter book kept by the plantation agent Charles Shephard from 1.Jan.1814 to 9.Nov.1815 with copies of detailed correspondence to Dublin, Bristol, Antigua, Tortola, Barbados etc. concerning shipping of sugar & rum, the management of plantation slaves, the sinking of the ''Eclipse'' by American privateers etc. He mention the imposition of martial law on the Island from 2.August 1815 and the garrison's attack on Guadeloupe etc. Fragile due to toning, some worm-holes in the opening pages and loose covers - front board is a replacement. A fascinating document. £100
