Edgecombe will frank all letters to/from the writer's sister! He goes on: "We are now hauled out of Sydney Cove into the stream, to be ready for the breeze to enable us to start for Norfolk Island....I hope to leave letters &c with our friends at Norfolk Island to bring back to Sydney for England; after this, thou must not expect soon to hear from Ulahuai() [the name of a Pacific Island - perhaps Ulitea, the old name for Raiatea in Tahiti, or Otaheite, the old name for Tahiti itself] as the conveyance from the Islands are very uncertain as to time.") with very fine early oval red "POST PAID SHIP LR./(crown)/SYDNEY" datestamp on the front, beside a v. fine boxed "INDIA LETTER/PORTSMOUTH" and boxed London "T·P/Rate/2" mark.
