    FRENCH COLONIES - GUADELOUPE - EARLY USAGE 'EAGLE' FRANKING 50c-RATE COVER TO FRANCE (10c + FULLY MARGINAL 40c); 12 Feb. 1860 env. (some edge wear and slight toning) from "BASSE-TERRE" (v. fine cds nicely placed above the address) to Rochefort "Voie Anglaise" with French Colonies 1st-Issue 'Eagle' 10c Brown (just 4m; hinged in place to show the full RH marginal selvedge of the 40c beneath) and 40c Orange (huge marginal selvedge at right beneath 10c; tight margins on other sides with small corner fault at bottom left) both tied by dotted diamonds; also having a red boxed "PD" and very fine 2-ring "COL. FR. ANGL./AMB. CALAIS L" cds also on the front. Very early Eagles usage (only a handful of 1859 covers are known and very few early 1860 covers).
