    FRANCE - VERY RARE FIRST BALLOON FLIGHT; 19 Sep. 1870 EL (small faults to rear) to Geneva franked 30c tied by Paris star cancel and with Paris "PL. DE LA BOURSE" cds alongside, believed carried on Le Neptune piloted by J.Duroff on 23 Sep. 1870 from Montmartre to Evreux. Rear with Geneva arrival d.s. of 8 Oct. 1870. Note: many of the early balloon flights were not specifically endorsed for same and were not of the reduced size commonly found on later flights. Doubly rare cover; first flight and to Switzerland: Important exhibition item. With Calves (Paris) expertising mark on front.
